When’s dinner?

We talk a lot about being ‘proudly local’ because we think it’s important to understand our community and the people within it, so that we can work sensitively around your lifestyle and commitments, sharing inspiration from other projects in the neighbourhood. Working effectively with local suppliers means projects run smoothly and with contingency. It also means we’re accountable. We stand by the quality of our work, because if nothing else, you’ll see us when we’re out and about. We’re proud that the majority of our work is through word of mouth referral and we’ve built great relationships with our clients, many of whom tried us out for a small project and now trust us with all their property work.

Able Projects was founded by an exiled northerner in London, on a Tuesday evening in the Royal Standard pub in Blackheath. Johnny had bought a Victorian mid-terrace in Rectory Fields and was looking forward to transforming an unloved two-up two-down into a stylish family home. What he hadn’t banked on was how hard it was to find reliable, qualified tradespeople he could trust.

The staircase was the final straw. What seemed like a simple job of replacing a bannister turned the hallway into one of those funhouse amusements, with broken treadboards, a chunk hacked out of the landing wall, loose spindles and a missing joiner. He abandoned the job part way through, stopped taking calls and disappeared from My Builder.

It was clear that the industry needed a shake up. Johnny decided to apply the project management skills he had developed during his 25 year career in manufacturing and property renovation in the northwest to establish Able Projects with a mission to be exactly the kind of tradespeople he would hire for his own home.

Since that fateful evening Able has been privileged to work on domestic and commercial projects covering all aspects of property renovation; from painting and decorating, joinery and carpentry, plastering, plumbing, to bathroom and kitchen build and installation.

We are honoured to have a growing and loyal client base in London, and love the buzz of the city, big skies of the heath, drama on the night bus and the warm air on the tube platform on a cold day. We get misty eyed when we hear Waterloo Sunset. But there’s always been something missing. You’ll never get a scallop in a chippy down south and the tap water is horrible.

We’ve been privileged to work on some amazing projects and want to come home and share that with you. We are excited to launch Able Projects in the North to continue to deliver our proudly local, accountable and responsive service, where we can see even bigger skies and pop into Burnt Truffle for a featherblade and chips without a 200 mile round trip.

Anyway, enough about us. What time do you have your dinner?
